“Rakh plays on the contrast of warm and cold spices, to gain in tremulous, majestic amplitude. It’s a fragrance with wonderful verticality that rises from Vetiver roots, up to the sacred Incense that lifts it towards the sky. The Somali Incense used is pure, natural in origin, harvested from the trunks of ancestral trees. I see a man who loves life and who life loves in return. This fragrance is to be worn when you want to feel irresistible”.
Olivier Pescheux, master perfumer at Givaudan
For Olivier Pescheux, the work of the perfumer is comparable to that of a sculpture, cutting away the raw material to reveal unexpected wonders. He particularly appreciates natural ingredients of which he knows the history, those he has seen growing and being harvested in the fields – orange blossom from Tunisia or Ylang-Ylang from Comoros for example –, histories that are olfactory as much as they are human. If his perfumes truly take you on a tour of the world, he focused on our flagship continent for SCENT OF AFRICA. For Rakh, he looked to Madagascan Black Pepper to create an elegant and magnetic spicy woody scent.
